Night of the Twister

The story "Night of the Twister" is very suspenseful. We want to know how Karen will escape her captors.The suspense is introduced when the two men, Garth and Jerry, kick down Karens front door and hold her at gunpoint. While talking with the men she tells them that a twister sounds like a trainaswell as where her father kept all of his guns except for an ancient double-barreled shotgun hung above the mantel. This is the weapon she uses to shoot the men with when the nightly train roars by her parents home. We are lead to believe that an actual twister was comming for the home untill Karen explains her story to the police officers the next day. The story has poetic justice because a two killers were shot killing one of them.

Kipling's use of the terms man and son I believe implys leadership and courage but also maturity. Not giving up and rebuilding your life after it has fallen apart is something you have to be able to be mature enough to deal with. Perhaps his use of the word son implys that he wants to teach it to his son or that humans are all gods children. The traits Kipling describes could describe either men or women. It describes courageous, mature skills that people should have.

My Left Foot-Paragraph

Christy's ability to write with his left foot allows him to communicate with the world around him making his life easier and freeing him from being imprisoned within his mind. He now can talk to his family and express his feeling to them in the form of writing. He can get an education and learn how to be a contributive member of society. Christy defied the odds and showed everyone he was smart and he wrote an entire book. Christy would likely have never been sucessful or been happy if he had not learned to write.
